The SR31 high performance barcode scanner was designed to highlight ergonomics, elegance, and durability for retail and healthcare environments.
One of the essential SR31 details I worked carefully on getting perfect was the feeling of the trigger. A scanner can look good, but feel really bad. The customer either has a excellent opinion supported by a responsive trigger, or a terrible impression if the trigger feels cheap. I kept my eye on the overall cost target so we could afford the best European tactile switch possible, which has a satisfying tactile feel and distinct click sound. It feels good when you pull the trigger the first time, and each of the thousands of times you pull it during the holiday rush.
Working on this scanner has added another layer to my mastery of creating handheld clean and elegant designs for mass production, without sacrificing cost or durability.
